I started the Warrior Diet today. I hate the word "diet" because it seems so limiting, but I like the philosophy behind it. Thanks to powerhouses like Mark Reifkind, I feel confident I will not lose strength while applying the WD principles of undereating/overeating. Underate all day, and did this workout at 5:30 pm.

Sled pulls warmup (90lbs)
50 yds forward x 2
50 yds rear x 2

Deadlift:
135x 3
225x2
275 x 1
315 x failed
225x 2
135 x 3
295 x 1 (PR, I know not much, but I never really deadlifted before!)
245 x 2
155 x 3

Dips
Bw only
5-10-5-10-5-10-5-10

BW: #201 lbs.
BF: Unk.

go slowly young diet jedi!make sure you dont go into "starving" mode too soon. they key is to undereat, not just fast during the day, during the beginning.

nice dl!hold your arch and dont let your lower back round.

Easy the path to the dark side, Obi-Rif!

The hard part will be my co-workers going to the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. sushi....mmmmmm

My goal on the deadlift was to get over 300. It felt just right at 295, so I decided not to push it just yet, since I could not get 315. I will test it again in 6-8 weeks. I like the idea of staying mentally sharper during the day. Over the weekend, I had a large lunch and then had to go back to work, and I felt myself starting to nod off. Not good!

I will keep my results posted.

Hi Pete, nice training...great picture too..who's that neanderthal with the shaved head in the back?;)!!
I have been doing the WD (not super strictly) for a while now and I see a big benefit. I undereat more when I'm on shift so I am pretty strict about 3 days a week and a little more relaxed the other days...I like it and adaptation was pretty quick.Keep us posted.

Hey Tom!

Day 2 went by and was pretty successful. I didn't feel tired or hungry and I even had the energy for a workout before eating my huge dinner.

I really like the way it is going so far! I can't believe you forgot your camera! :( Oh well, I am looking forward to hearing what you learned. Hope to see you soon. I will heading on down to San Diego next week to see my daughter gaduate the 5th grade, and I will stop in to visit Franz and see Revolution LaJolla.

Pete, enjoy SD and say hello to the revolution LaJolla crowd from me.
I know, total bone-head move on my part about the camera. John DuCane and Dennis Armstrong took loads of pictures though and there were only about 35 participants so there are bound to be some good shots of my suffering and sweating...

Great job on your PR! As Rif, says, go slowly. I screwed up back really badly from trying to get strong TOO QUICKLY with DL's.

Look forward to seeeing you when you come down to La Jolla.

Good point on not trying to get strong too quickly. I have also tweaked my back from doing "heavy" (for me, that is) DLs. I will go back to using a percentage of my 1RM and train in that fashion. When I do that, I seem to progress better and healthier than when I get a wild hair and want to do something out of my regular range, although, sometimes those times bring interesting results too.

Of course, I must also listen to Father Time, and realize I am not in my 20's anymore, and it takes longer to heal.

I hope the sun stays out in La Jolla, Franz! This will be my baby's (15 weeks old) first trip to the beach :)
