Ken Black at the academy

Here are some pics that I should have posted a while back! Ken Black at the police academy impressing the recruits with his teaching style and strength prowess.

Wed: JM drills and Dynamic Drills

21-15-9-6 rep prescription

Mil Press- 2 16kg KBs
Ring Rows
DB Lateral raises (20lb DBs)
Box Jumps

I am varying up the weight range. The recent feelings of illness, rundown, and injuries on the California RKC circuit has me listening to my body even more. Come Novemeber, we are starting another academy class of 59 recruits in addition to the 48 recruits I have now. I will have morning PT and evening PT. Gotta keep healthy!

Thanks Rif, the knee is feeling much better due to ice and staying off of it!

Those aren't the Reds, I painted my chipped/rusted original KBs red for fun. It is a motivating color when I am feeling fatigued.

The recruits wrote a thank you card for you Ken! I wil bring it to you.

Cool pics! Just one question though: Where is Ken's Smokey the Bear hat??!!
Geeze Pete, that's a LOT of recruits hitting the streets, what's going on? Sac Fire is doing the same thing, must be lots of retirements coming up?

Yes, this is the cycle for the past couple, three years. The mass hirings of cops of the Vietnam era are now retiring and many places did not prepare for this cycle. I know the fire dept. has 50 in their recruit class, too! I am going to be busy for the next few years! This class is really getting more exposure than previous classes to the kettlebell, and they are loving it! On thursday, I had a mini workout for those who wanted to stay after work. I was very happy with what a few of them were able to do. A couple of them were doing pistols, one recruit did a pistol with the 24kg!Another recruit snatched the 32 kg. for 3 reps. Ah, to be young (20-24) again!
